I would assume that once you've done ToList, you are no longer using GroupBy on data from the server, but on in-memory objects, which would explain the speed difference between the first and second samples.
In the 3rd sample, without ToList you are once again using GroupBy on data from the server.

Hi,
thanks for the helpful guide on frothing. Very nice latte art!

However I'm confused by Step 7 of the procedure.
Turn ON Brew button, run cold water until indicator light = ON
Reason: Similar to brew coffee, we need to surf the boiler at the lowest temperature.

Is there a point where you turn on the Steam button? At which number of the procedure do you turn on the Steam button?

Thank you!

Hi,

I have ordered a PID and a bottomless portafilter, both are on the way :).

I am very interested in the VST basket too, however I'm going to try the PID and bottomless first, before I decide if I need the VST.

I would like to find out if you got a Ridged or Ridgeless VST basket.
They only have the Ridged here in Singapore.

Thank you!

Same problem. I have to lock my computer and that causes the status to be "Away" even if the script is running.

Alex: First of all, thanks. I strongly recommend getting PID + Bottomless portafilter. Bottomless portafilter helps you to troubleshoot the extraction, you can see the "tiger stripe" coming down to determine if that's a good extraction.

Now, how did I decide the brand of PID? Read my Part 3 of the blog, I gave several reasons. One of the reasons is quality parts (Made in USA instead of China). For the flat screen shower - if you are not buying the "VST Precision filter", the flat shower makes clean up easier. But I strongly recommend to buy the "VST Precision filter" instead of flat shower screen. Since the flat shower screen doesn't help in taste, but VST Precision actually improves the taste, and amazingly VST Precision filter makes clean up easier! Hope that helps.

I love your entire writeup on the Silvia V3. Very detailed and informative, with great pictures.
I have the same combi, but unfortunately I'm having much difficulties getting a good shot.

So I am contemplating getting a PID + bottomless portfilter.

1) How did you decide on this brand of PID?

2) Does the flat shower screen help in any way?

Thank you!
